FAQ’S:

Question:  “Will you take our group even if we’ve never fished before?”

Answer: Absolutely! Our job is to provide you with a fun day out.  The crew will not only teach you how to use the rod and reel, but also teach you techniques “that landed the big one”.  With a little help you’ll walk off a seasoned veteran.

Question:  “Will I get Seasick?”

Answer:  The best part of chartering the whole boat is that we tailor the trip to your needs.  We get requests all the time for “bay only”.  This is the calmest water.  Even the tenderest of stomachs have no problem.

On the flip side, we’ll also accommodate an old salt with a good “crank” in the ocean if their game.

Question: “What’s the minimum number of people I need to charter   the Fishtale?”

Answer:  It’s not so much a minimum number of people as it is a minimum dollar amount.  Each trip is different and we recommend that you call in order to get an accurate price.

Fishing /cruising, length of trip, weekend/ weekday, type of fishing are all factors in how much the price will be.

Question: “Where do I send the deposit and for how much?”

Answer: The deposit is $300 and can be made one of two ways:

1:  Credit card over the phone (We accept M/C, Visa, and AMEX)

2:  Mail us a check:       Fishtale Charters

                                                                91 Araca Road

                                                                Babylon, NY 11702

Note:  To hold the date, deposit checks must be received within 7 days.

Captain’s suggestion:  Reserve with a credit card to lock in the date.

Should you then prefer to follow up with a check your credit card will promptly be reimbursed.

Question: “Is the Deposit refundable?”

Answer:  If the trip is cancelled 30 or more days before the date of said charter then it will be refunded in full in the way it was received (credit card, check).

If the trip is cancelled less than 30 days from the date of said charter the deposit will not be refunded unless another charter of equal or greater value is booked in its place.  NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

Question: “How far in advance should I book my charter?”

Answer:  Generally…the sooner the better!  Leave yourself plenty of time to get your group together.  The average is about 1 ½ months before the charter date.  Weekends in the summer tend to book earlier.  Occasionally we get customers who book last minute, but keep in mind the likelihood of availability diminishes.  Call for advice.

Question: “When is the balance payment due and can I use a credit card?

Answer:  The balance payment is due on the day of the trip.  For our corporate clients, exceptions are made, but this must be agreed upon at least 2 days in advance.

Credit cards are accepted for balance payments however they will be assessed a 3% surcharge. (Balances only, not deposits)

Question: “What happens if it rains on the day of the charter?”

 Answer:

1:  “Fishing is an outdoor sport!  We go rain or shine!  So come prepared!”

“Chance of showers” can also mean “Mostly dry”

In the event the weather poses a safety concern (example: high winds and imminent lightning) then the captain will contact the charterer, cancel the trip and discuss any rebooking options.

2:  In the event that the captain feels that rain is inevitable on a scheduled

Moonlight Cruise, he will contact the charterer and give them the option of proceeding with the cruise, canceling it or rescheduling it for a later date.

Question: “Do I need to bring my own fishing gear?”

Answer:  Only if you want to…

We will supply everyone with a rod, bait, hooks and sinkers at no charge.

(Certain types of fishing require “jigs”, and a small fee may be charged, usually in advance.)

Question: “Will the crew bait my hook?” (This is asked more often then you’d think)

Answer: Yes… Ladies, if they did laundry you’d be in heaven.   Please keep in mind

though that during busy fishing the crew must prioritize and baiting hooks generally falls to the bottom of the list.  Don’t worry, the smell washes off with soap and water.

Question: “Do you have a bathroom onboard?”

Answer:  Yes… We have two.  Men and ladies rooms with full sized toilets, sinks with

running water, and mirrors.  These bathrooms are clean and function  throughout your stay.

Question: “Do you Supply Complimentary Coffee and Ice?”

Answer:  Yes…  We will automatically make an urn of coffee (milk & sugar provided)                         for

any morning and night charters.  Mid-day charters can request coffee a day or two ahead of time. This allows us to guarantee fresh milk will be available.

Should you require, we will supply up to $25 of ice at no add’l cost.

Question: “Do you have a snack bar or supply food and drinks?”

Answer:  No… Instead we encourage you to bring your own food or cater the event.

There are countertops and a table in the front of the cabin to lay out chaffing dishes, hero’s, salads, platters and more.

If you want a deli or caterer who will deliver to the boat, no problem…there are several local establishments who cater Fishale on a regular basis and we can provide you with their phone numbers.

Captain’s suggestion:  Although you may have your other beverages in order, consider this when you hit the distributor…most groups over estimate the soda and under estimate the bottled water.  Consider a 50/50 mix or lean more towards the water.

Question: “Do you have a stereo onboard?”

Answer:Yes… We have a CD/ Radio with SIRIUS Satellite hook-up.  The stereo system

is piped throughout the boat with 4 zones that have individual volume controls and can be turned on/ off as needed.  If you have an IPOD/ MP3 with a wireless transmitter, bring it along, we can certainly hook it up.
